Kate Stevens, LCPC, believes that each client is unique, and treatment should be focused on where clients are when they walk through the door. Kate works side by side with her clients to create achievable, positive goals to ensure that counseling is a space where clients are able to see a future full of hope for better days to come.
Kate earned a BA from North Central College and an MA from Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Prior to joining Edgewood, she served clients in various settings, including a community mental health center and an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence. She has a strong passion for the intersection of mental health and community advocacy.
Throughout her career, Kate has focused much of her work on children and adolescents. She has supported children and their families through a variety of challenges, such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and related diagnoses, suicidal ideation, self-harm, school refusal, self-esteem, divorce, domestic violence, physical and sexual abuse, sibling conflict, attachment and parenting skills, and LGBTQ+ with a focus on exploration of sexual and gender identity.
Kate uses an integrative approach to techniques and tools given to clients, focusing on using a client’s interests to help engage and create interactive experiences in growth. Her warm, empathic, and humorous approach to the healing process helps each client feel like they are walking the path towards success with a guide who can be there each step of the way.
