Kate Culen, Chief Clinical Officer, uses her extensive experience with at-risk children and adults to lead the clinical team at Edgewood. In addition to her leadership duties, Kate helps clients navigate the challenges of mood disorders, life transitions, family instability, relationship problems, and grief.
Kate received a BA from Ball State University and an MSW from University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition, she earned an Illinois Type 73 school social worker certificate from Aurora University. Prior to joining Edgewood, Kate served as the director of a community counseling program. Throughout her career, she worked with numerous schools, the DCFS, and several community social service providers.
Kate helps clients identify their strengths and build upon them as vehicles for change. She uses a variety of approaches, including cognitive-behavioral, strength-based, family systems and the Gottman Method for couples therapy. Kate’s philosophy involves offering practical solutions and empowering others to understand their difficulties, develop healthy ways to cope with life’s demands, improve relationships, and learn to feel and function better.
