Barbara Henry, LCPC, ATR-BC, takes a holistic approach to treating individuals, couples or families struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, and PTSD. Her area of expertise is helping people recover from trauma, coping with anxiety, and working with women who are experiencing midlife transitions such as menopause, divorce, children leaving home, and job changes.

Barb earned a BA from Illinois State University and an MA from Adler School of Professional Psychology. She is also a registered art therapist and has extensive training on trauma and sexual abuse recovery through the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Her experience includes working with clients in the juvenile justice system, alternative school settings, and victims of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Based on her Adlerian training and trauma work, Barbara uses a variety of counseling approaches to help her clients return to a functional lifestyle.   Developing insight into the behavior, creating strong coping skills and stress management skills, systemic family work and parenting skills are used as needed throughout the therapy process.  All of these methods are done in a manner that focuses on client needs in an empathic and accepting environment.
