The stereotype of therapy is that you’re “crazy” if you need to talk with a therapist. The truth is that therapy is a way for virtually anyone of any age to receive help, gain insight, and learn the tools that help us successfully manage the complicated, stressful, and wonderful experience of life that is uniquely different for each individual and family. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, my goal is to help you and your family build upon your strengths and discover new ways of approaching our crazy lives to reduce stress and develop healthier habits.
I specialize in child and adolescent therapy for clients/patients ages 4-18. In that work, we focus on healthy ways of emotional expression, improving relaxation skills, and helping parents with how to best support and help their children. In addition to this specialization, I enjoy working with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, anger, stress management, and parenting skills enhancement. When working with adults I focus on enhancing the skills needed to manage the life stresses of work, family, and those annoying “surprises” that lead to emotional difficulty. Together, we move towards gaining a sense of confidence and control to help alleviate symptoms of numerous diagnoses. In my work with families and couples, our focus is often on improving communication, understanding, and establishing healthy relationship dynamics.
Paired with a positive energy to help clients reach their goals, I use a variety of different therapeutic approaches including Play Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family Systems approaches to help and support clients to better manage emotions, solve problems, improve behaviors, and communicate more effectively with others. I believe that this style and these therapeutic approaches help reveal the strengths that clients have to overcome the problems that make our lives feel crazy. Though life can often be tough, getting the help and support that good therapy provides, allows us to accomplish our goals.
