Shira Behal, LPC, AT, is a master's level licensed therapist with a dual degree in Counseling and Art Therapy. Shira specializes in working with clients with Trauma, PTSD or C-PTSD, addictions, and clients in the LGBTQIA+ community including those transitioning. Shira has also worked with clients with special needs such as ADHD, intellectual disability, and on the autism spectrum. Shira is a poly and kink friendly/Knowledgeable therapist and is trained as a multiculturally respectful clinician. Shira is a Therapist and an Art Therapist and can incorporate Art Therapy both in person and via telehealth.
Shira has previously worked with a methadone clinic, an inpatient mental health hospital, a women's shelter, a community outreach program, and with Little City Foundation. Shira earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from University of Illinois at Chicago, and a graduate degree in Counseling and Art Therapy from Adler University.
Shira brings a wide background of approaches to help clients overcome what life has dealt, to find a path together. In therapy Shira uses a Person-Centered approach of listening combined with a structured style of teaching new skills to guide clients to the life they're seeking. Shira draws from EFT, DBT, Exposure Therapy, Seeking Safety, and mindfulness.
