Provider Type: Therapist
Serving: Adolescents 13-17, Adults 18-59
I am currently a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified alcohol and drug counselor. I received my BA in psychology from the University of Arizona (Go Cats!) and then received my MA in counseling psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where I specialized in treating both mental health and substance abuse concerns.
My experience has been primary with adults, adolescents, and their families who struggle with co-occurring concerns, which include substance abuse, anxiety/depression/mood instability, and additional concerns related to experiencing trauma. I do specialize in treating all of the aforementioned concerns of substance abuse, anxiety, depression, mood instability, life transitions, and trauma/PTSD.
The interventions I use most often to help treat these concerns are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and existentialism. I often use techniques from many different theories since they all do have unique values as well, but no matter the technique, I always approach therapy with the utmost amount of empathy and respect for clients. I always stand to empower my clients and to also work collaboratively to find solutions to problems. I do believe everyone needs help at some point in their lives and I am here to help be a part of that process. Also, if clients are unsure about therapy in general, it is no problem at all. I’m happy to meet clients exactly where they are in the process of change.
On a personal level, my passions include music, movies, sports, and art. All the good stuff. I also love to travel to visit my family and friends that are spread all over the globe!
