Therapy for me is a journey to a place of acceptance and shame free living. Most people go through trauma in life and I believe it is my job as a therapist to support my clients as they proceed through their journey.
My passion is working with adolescents and adults that experience difficulty being part of the LGBTQ+ community, including people having difficulty with family acceptance and the coming out process. I work with people who have experienced myriad types and levels of trauma that creates anxiety and inhibits their ability to lead a happy fulfilling life and I enjoy working with athletes on performance based goals that help minimize performance anxiety.
I have lived in the Chicago suburbs my whole life after navigating a childhood as the fifth of twelve children. I was a high school teacher and coach for 18 years in diving, gymnastics and track and field. During my time as a coach I developed hundreds of athletes that had success all the way to national prominence. During my last three years of coaching I had three state championship teams of which two were named national champions.
I will finish my fourth master’s degree this June in Clinical Mental Health from National Louis University. Currently, I employ my skills as a teacher, coach and therapist to utilize psychodynamic skills, narrative, CBT, solution-focused, multicultural, and client-centered techniques in order to navigate the client journey. I also use mindfulness techniques, visualization and goal setting for performance based anxieties.
