Marie Kilvington is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience. She understands a supportive collaboration with a counselor can not only enable a client to move towards a more adaptive way of life's challenges, but also help reach and sustain an enhanced self defined quality of life.
Marie specializes in working with older adults on a variety of issues including coping with grief and loss. She also treats adolescents and adults for anxiety, ADHD, chronic pain, family conflict, and more.
A key element of counseling is to start where the client is. You lead the way. Marie uses an empathetic, non judgmental and collaborative approach to build and maintain a therapeutic relationship focused on a rapport built on trust and confidence. Marie listens to the client's needs and works with them to adapt various therapy modalities to help clients achieve their goals. Part of the collaborative process is to help clients understand their thought processes, behavioral patterns, and strengths/weaknesses, and; how each of those relates to what the client is working towards. Working together, side by side, Marie supports clients in their goals, however big or small.
Marie completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work at the University of Central Florida. Her experience includes working with individuals, groups and families. Marie utilities a variety of therapeutic modalities including client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavior therapy, and psychodynamic therapy.
