My name is Kristy and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I earned my Bachelors in Psychology from University of Phoenix. My experience comes from a mixture of areas such as community health centers, outpatient services in substance use, as well as work with my university in various counseling settings. I believe that each individual is unique in that one approach does not fit all. I use a combination of client-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based, and humanistic approaches to help the client reach their goals.
Therapy does not have to be a scary or intimidating thing; it is a tool you can use to help you reach your optimal potential. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of a great working process. As a therapist it is important to promote trust, safety, respect, and acceptance in order to promote growth in each client. You are the expert on your life, I am here to help guide you, support you, and give you the tools that you need. I want you to feel in control and take back the power over your life.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my children, husband, two cats, and Yorkie. I also enjoy fishing and spending time outdoors walking/hiking. Other hobbies include reading and going to music concerts.
