About Kristin Marshall, LPC

“Each of us is a story, waiting for a devoted reader who will take us off the shelf and embrace all our plot twists”. I believe each client is the expert in their own story and I strive to provide a warm and non-judgmental space to allow them to feel safe to explore those chapters as they are ready. I work collaboratively with each client on identifying realistic and attainable goals to their treatment that they can implement into their daily life to allow healing, growth and taking back control.

I employ a holistic approach to mental health to allow the client to see themselves as a whole person and not just their diagnosis. I am open to natural treatments to help clients learn and understand the connections to their nutrition, sleep routines, exercise, and internal self-care. My approach is to tailor to the individual client’s needs, most often using techniques from CBT, Mindfulness, DBT, solution focused and client centered therapy. I enjoy taking an artistic and musical approach to therapy sessions with my clients to explore thoughts and feelings in a unique way. I encourage parental involvement in their child’s therapy to allow for support, education and progress in their goals.

I provide treatment for a variety of concerns. I especially enjoy working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance use, life transitions for adolescents and adults as well as women with infertility issues due to personal experience.

I earned a BA from Northern Illinois University and a graduate degree from St. Xavier University. Prior to joining LifeStance, I have worked in a variety of settings including DCFS, a methadone clinic providing therapy for dual diagnosis, and outreach projects to help independent living adults gain knowledge about their community resources. I also have extensive experience working with children and adolescents in foster care settings.
