Kellie views the therapeutic relationship to be central to her work. She strives to create a safe space for her clients to work collaboratively toward their goals. She employs a strength-based approach to therapy, helping clients to recognize their strengths and abilities, therefore setting and achieving realistic goals. She recognizes the therapy process to be different for every client and works to tailor each session to the individual. She understands that therapy can feel uncomfortable and awkward at times and encourages clients to move at a pace that feels comfortable to them.
Kellie views each client that walks into her office as a unique individual and treats them as such, adapting a multi-faceted theoretical approach to therapy. Depending on the individual’s current needs, she utilizes approaches and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Art and Play Therapy.
Kellie is a licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. She obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Valparaiso University and a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology from Illinois State University. She has experience working with a variety of clients of all ages in inpatient, outpatient, experiential, and behavioral mental health settings.
