Kathleen Monforton, LCSW, creates a safe and judgement free space to receive the support you need to live the life you desire. She provides therapy to adolescents, adults, and couples. Kathleen treats those struggling with substance use, mood disorders, anxiety, panic, life adjustments, stress management, dating, interpersonal relationships, or just “adulting”. She has previously worked in community mental health & emergency room settings. Kathleen has extensive experience working with individuals with more severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia in community, group home, and supportive living environments.
Kathleen uses an eclectic approach to therapy and treats each person as an individual. She uses Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Harm Reduction techniques. Kathleen believes each client is the expert on their own life and already possesses the ability to heal if given a safe and supportive environment. She also believes in the healing power of laughter, positive relationships, meditation, mindfulness, and a strong therapeutic alliance.
Kathleen earned her undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her graduate degree from Loyola University of Chicago. She is an LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC ally and welcomes everyone to her office.
