Heather Wells, PsyD, specializes in working with youth and families who have endured chronic developmental trauma, and youth who are exhibiting emotional and behavioral dysregulation that is impacting their daily functioning and interpersonal relationships. She emphasizes the importance in forming a trusting therapeutic relationship with each client and their family to provide the best environment for personal growth and the achievement of treatment goals.
Dr. Wells is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned her Doctor of Psychology at Midwestern University. Dr. Wells provides psychotherapy services and comprehensive psychological evaluations to youth, adults, and families in a variety of settings. She offers psychological and neuropsychological assessments for those 4 to 45 years old. The testing encompasses mood disorders, PTSD, OCD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and specific learning disabilities. She worked in both hospital and outpatient settings providing acute and long-term psychotherapy to children and adults who were exhibiting severe psychopathology relating to suicidality, aggression, and insecure attachment patterns.
Dr. Wells incorporates a developmental approach when working with clients and families by utilizing therapeutic techniques that are appropriate for each client’s current level of functioning and presenting concerns. Consistent with a developmental approach to psychotherapy, she incorporates a variety of treatment modalities, including psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and play therapy to best serve the needs of each client and family.
