Areta Wasiunec, LPC stays “human” in her therapeutic approach to ensure every client feels heard, understood, and not just like another individual she meets. She thrives off of building a strong relationship with all of her clients and does not believe therapy is one size fits all.
Areta serves adolescents, young adults, and adults in-person in Wheaton, or via telehealth. She provides therapy for those suffering from workplace struggles, relationship and identity issues, behavioral health concerns, and is especially skilled at:
Holistic Therapy: Areta believes mental health is ones part of a larger puzzle. She believes in finding ways to engage to mind and body to encourage you to take a look at your lifestyle and how it may be helping or hurting you.
Getting “Unstuck”: Feeling trapped by your life is a terrible feeling; Areta understands what you are going through. She can help you find your way out of routine because change isn’t supposed to be comfortable. But comfort zones are even more uncomfortable.
Coping with Anxiety and Depression: Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health issues, but every person is differently affected. Areta makes sure you are heard at every appointment. The hardest step is the first step, but it’s also not the most important one. Time to get your life back under your control.
In therapy, Areta uses different approaches depending on your needs. She utilizes CBT, DBT, and Solution-Focused therapy. She thrives off feedback and building the ideal coping mechanisms you may need to heal.
Areta earned an undergraduate degree from St. Xavier University and a graduate degree from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Out of the office, her passion for health continues with being an outdoor enthusiast. She enjoys hiking, biking, and running; also, going to concerts and building music playlists. Her self-care includes cooking which is her own form of therapy!
