Provider Type: Therapist
Serving: Adolescents 13-17, Adults 18-59, Adults 60+, Children 0-5, Children 6-12
Education/Experience: I am a Licensed Professional Counselor currently working remotely with Illinois residents. I obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Throughout my time at The Chicago School, I worked with clients across the lifespan from various cultural backgrounds and socio-economic status. Prior to Portrait Health Centers, I was an intern at the Erie Neighborhood House where I provided trauma-focused counseling to individuals and families, predominantly young children and immigrant families. During my internship, I offered therapy for clients with a wide array of issues, such as coping with threat of parent deportation, anger management, sexual exploration, anxiety, identity development, child abuse, PTSD, and domestic violence.
Counseling Approach: I utilize a Client-Centered counseling approach, while also integrating tenants from supplementary theories (Attachment, Systems, Psychodynamic); depending on what the client’s needs are. This allows for a deeper understanding of the client to create an individualized approach. I believe that my compassionate and understanding human nature allows clients to feel at ease. In my opinion, it is important to meet each individual client where they are, while promoting a non-judgmental and safe environment. As a clinician, I believe it is imperative to provide empathy and unconditional positive regard to help build and facilitate a strong therapeutic relationship. I specialize in Play therapy with younger clients and employ creative and holistic approaches when working with clients of all ages.
About Me: In my free time, my favorite self-care activities include cooking, exercising, being outdoors and hanging out with my pup, Romeo.
