Education/Experience: I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor, serving Illinois clients remotely. I have obtained my Master of Science of Education in School Counseling from Northern Illinois University. Throughout my time at my university, I have worked with adolescents, young adults, and adults of diverse backgrounds in different settings on a number of different issues, having worked the most with anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, relational problems, and grief and loss. I am also certified in Trauma-Informed Counseling and as a Grief Group Facilitator. Having specialized in school counseling, I am well versed in academic, social, and college/career counseling. Prior to my master’s degree, I have obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and minored in art.
Counseling Approach: I concentrate on building a strong, trusting relationship with you as a foundation for the counseling process. I use an integrative approach, combining many different techniques, to best suit individual needs of my clients. I enjoy using experiential techniques such as art, mindfulness, meditation, breathing techniques, and movement as I believe that addressing the mind and body connection is crucial in counseling. Although I borrow from multiple theories, my main theoretical approach is client-centered counseling.
To me, counseling is a collaborative and supportive relationship and I believe that healing comes from being heard, being cared for, accepted for who we are, and from practicing self-love and self-acceptance. This is what I will strive to help you to feel during our time together. I understand that counseling is not an easy process as it involves confronting our deepest thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I seek to aid you in your process of self-discovery and healing, keeping in mind that you are an expert on yourself. Through this process, I am hoping that I can help you gain additional insights into yourself that would allow you to come up with new ideas and perspectives on things that have been on your mind.
About Me: As a self-care enthusiast, I indulge in various self-care activities such as yoga, aerial arts, reading, watching Netflix, hanging out with my cat (Khaleesi) and my friends, going on nature walks, rollerblading, and taking on various DIY projects. I also love traveling!
