Social Kids


Social Kids teaches children the interpersonal, emotional management, and communication skills needed to be good friends. Through facilitated play, this group practices flexible thinking, self-calming, and reading facial expressions to enhance social connections.

What are the benefits of group therapy?

Group therapy offers numerous benefits to your child, including: improved social connection to family and friends, confidence in friendships and emotions, the ability to express emotions without behaviors, better perception of self and others, and more.

Are there any requirements to join this group?

Your child must be going into kindergarten or first grade, but other ages may be enrolled on a case-by-case basis. Your child must be verbal in order to be a good fit for group. Unless otherwise specified, you and your child must meet with group facilitator for an intake session to ensure your child is a good fit for group.

How many children are in the group?

The group typically has between 4 and 8 members at any given time.

Can I be in the room with my child?

Parents are typically not involved in group therapy, but you are welcome to wait in the reception area during the session.

What is the cost?

The group fee is typically covered by insurance. If paying out-of-pocket, the session fee is $70.

How do I enroll my child?

Call Client Services at 630-428-7890, Ext 320 to schedule an enrollment session for you and your child. At your consultation, we will discuss your background and reasons for seeking seeking group therapy. If your child is a good fit and the group has an opening, your child will immediately be enrolled. If the group is full following your session, your child will be put on a waitlist and you’ll be notified when space is available.
