Get answers about how Positive Pals can benefit your child

What are the benefits of Group Therapy?

Group therapy offers numerous benefits to your child.  Through the natural learning benefits of play, children in Positive Pals enhance their ability to connect with others, develop skills to navigate social environments, and increase their understanding of emotions and use of coping skills.

Are there any requirements to join this group?

Clients are typically in preschool, in the age range of 4-5 years old. Developmental age is taken into consideration, so older children may be let into the group on a case-by-case basis.  No specific diagnosis is required to be a member of the group. Unless otherwise specified, you and your child must meet with group facilitator for an enrollment session to ensure your child is a good fit for group.

How many children are in the group?

The group typically has up to five members at any given time.

Can I be in the room with my child?

Parents are typically not involved in group therapy, but are asked to wait in the reception area during the session depending on the needs of the child.

What is the cost?

The group fee is typically covered by insurance. If paying out-of-pocket, the session fee is $70.

How do I enroll my child?

Call Client Services at 630-428-7890, Ext 320 to schedule an enrollment session for you and your child. At your consultation, we will discuss your background and reasons for seeking seeking group therapy. If your child is a good fit and the group has an opening, your child will immediately be enrolled. If the group is full following your session, your child will be put on a waitlist and you’ll be notified when space is available.
