What are the benefits of group therapy?

Group therapy allows you to have a space with others sharing similar experiences and not feel judged or feel the need to pretend to be someone you’re not. Members work together an help each other process through their individual challenges in a creative way.

Group therapy is especially beneficial for this age group as it allows teens to maintain friendships, express emotions, learn coping skills, build confidence, and improve self-esteem.

What happens during a group session?

The format is similar to an art class with a new creative project each week. Rather than focus on a finished product, however, participants pay attention to their responses to anxiety-provoking situations and process the experience with peers. Therapeutic goals include developing self-advocacy, building communication skills, and more.

Are there any requirements to join this group?

This group is for high school ages boys and girls. Unless otherwise specified, participants must meet with group facilitator for an enrollment session to ensure they’re a good fit for group.

How many people are in the group?

The goal is to keep the group between seven and ten members.

What is the cost?

The group fee is typically covered by insurance. If paying out-of-pocket, the session fee is $70.
