Dr. Peter Nichols, Board-Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, provides psychiatric care for both children and adults. Using a supportive and collaborative approach, he guides patients through the understanding of treatment possibilities, medication options, personal care, and also connects them with valuable community resources.
Dr. Nichols earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley and later obtained both a Master’s of Health Services Administration and his Medical Degree from the University of Southern California. He completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Chicago and his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where he served as Chief Fellow.
Prior to joining LifeStance Health, Dr. Nichols was Chief Medical Officer for a large behavioral health hospital with outpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and acute inpatient settings. He is also on the board of the Illinois Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry where he advocates for access and quality to mental health care in the State of Illinois.
Dr. Nichols focuses on a team approach when working with patients, teachers, clinicians, and other medical providers. “Psychiatrists work best when they are part of a patient-centered team, with medication used to complement other modalities,” he states. “LifeStance Health fosters that philosophy and creates an environment where clinicians and families can collaborate on treatment.
