She has specialized training in providing Exposure and Response Prevention and is able to provide treatment both in the office and outside of the office, wherever anxiety happens. She involves supportive others and families commonly in the treatment and is comfortable collaborating with outside providers as well as providing treatment intensively.
This introductory workshop is designed to teach participants the basics of applying research proven, exposure-based therapeutic strategies for Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Phobias, and OCD. Participants will learn the framework of Exposure and Response Prevention and why other treatment approaches such as coping skills and relaxation not only often don’t work, but might actually increase or maintain anxiety. Factors, such as family and school accommodation that contribute to the maintenance of anxiety will also be discussed. A general treatment outline using case examples will be provided to highlight the main areas of interventions incorporated during treatment. Presenters will also provide creative examples of exposure-based interventions.
1. Identify symptoms of OCD/anxiety and factors that maintain these disorders
2. Summarize the rationale for Exposure Based Intervention and how to set up a hierarchy
3. Practice developing creative ideas for exposures for use with clients
